Description

It's been a while. Been busy with work :) Anyway, these two characters are from my graphic novel Haru-Sari (which will be available on Haru-Sari.com starting from November 25!

I like the oil painty feel of this piece. The perspective is kinda screwy, but I can't put my finger on it. :(

YAY Keiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii's back! Busy at work? Or with your Katamari? :p

I think if you switch the sides the railings were on, the perspective would work better...

This is definitely darker than your usual works, but your trademark use of color is still present (thumbup). Backlighting is such a difficult subject as you want to include details despite how they should be hidden by the rear light source.

While I appreciate (and I hope to loosen up to do) the painterly strokes, it seems the face is more refined than the body. Perhaps tighten the strokes/contours of the body detail just a tad to make it seem whole.

Still...it (as far as story is concerned) leaves you wondering (thumbup)

Why, it's a Brett! Thanks for the critique, I really appreciate it

Hmm, I guess the face is more polished than the body... I thought it wasn't as prevalent as it was in some of my previous works, but now that you mention it, I can kinda see it. I think it's partly because there's not much contrast there. I'll try to do better next time. :x

Glad the picture intrigues you in terms of the story. I wasn't sure how successful it would be in that aspect, since there's no ACTION going on... Subtlety can be so difficult!

her hand looks bit manly to me :( and her neck it way to thin...

shyam: Thanks for the crit. :) Her hand and her arms are supposed to be "manly," but I'll think about her neck. I always thought the neck thing was just a matter of the stylization, but you have a good point since she is a bit more muscular than the average female...

SudnDeath: Thanks. I kinda like the hair lighting too

I dont think her arms and hands look manly myself, they look fine to me. I love your use of colour and even though this is darker than your other stuff (in colour not concept) it still has your trademark colour scheme. My only crit would be that I dont like the ears but that is a personal preference and I realise that is part of the character/ world you have created. The figure in the back seems a bit too flat and could have a little more shape to her body but I really like the lighting in this and the atmosphere.

Cool stuff keiiii

Thanks for the C&C Azurelle, I will PM you when I post the first chapter online. I'm glad you are interested!

Andy: Hehe! The elf in the back is actually a he, but it's alright, he can be easily mistaken for a young girl. :)

I reallllly like the colour palette. Good painterly look, as it is very hard to achieve that, looks painterly but in the same time not messy. If the figure in the back is meant to be male, you should have made him a bit bulkier, e.g. broader shoulders. Also if the person in the background is taking a step up, he should be leaning forward to the light a bit. Everything else has been said.

Good work, and definitely your style

He's not supposed to be bulky; he hasn't hit puberty yet. :)

Good point about leaning forward though! Arrg... oh well, I'll remember that next time. Thanks so much for the C&C!!

The brush marks on her skin and clothes makes it look like she is wrapped in plastic or something. Still, very nice work, a good painterly feeling yes, and nice colours. Good work! :)
